Thank you, Mika, for organising my post hen's night here with her super lady friends!
Pre-Dinner Drinks at NOX. Photo taken by me. |
The cocktails here are very interesting! I didn't have any alcohol tonight. Tired from lack of sleep by Cat Nini's post-op caring and I need to drive back to J.B after this.
Denise Y's passion fruit something something. Highly raved by Mika and everyone who ordered this! |
Heat infusing the alcohol with passion fruit! |
Sorry, I cannot recalled well for the other cocktails ordered tonight. But everyone loved their orders tonight!
The photos taken were possibly only when we were at the bar, downstairs. It is after all, a blind dining event. No one is allowed to bring any bright or illuminating objects into the dining area. Pitch dark and I'm not kidding! All your belongings will be secured in the lockers provided.
I've taken almost no photo during this evening. Teehee. Majority of the photos were taken and shared by these great ladies with me this evening!
Mika took this photo of us as we were given details of what to expect during dining. |
This was Mika's second visit. She was pretty amused by how attentive we were during the briefing. All 6 were first timers. We were all TOO excited and have been on a bout of giggles with alacrity.
Amuse-bouche was served before we proceed for the full course meal in the dark. |
The ONLY meal you get to see and eat in a lit room is the amuse-bouche.
Bib gift from Mika! |
As the hen of this evening, I was promptly given a bib to wear! Ahem. I didn't expect Mika to adopts my joke into action. Teehee. I did always say I NEED one. Lovely!
Well, it's time! Everyone's belongings are locked securely in the lockers. Forming a chain of human train, hands on shoulders while our competent blind guide led us slowly up the darken stairs to complete darkness!
In the Dark
We were seated, promptly. Calling out our names once during the first service and the staff is sorted! Amazing. Professional and well-trained. Served from right, took from left and many times, I didn't even realise my plates were cleared! Applause!
3 courses, 4 dishes per course. You eat from your 6 o'clock, clockwise. Remember your dishes well, you will be asked to fill in a form later! Menu is a secret, just let them know which choice (vegetarian, etc) you wanted and what food you don't take.
The meal was delish! We chatted and laughed so much as we tried to guess out loud the food we've eaten. Note that Mika did make a reservation for the private room but was mistakenly taken up by another group this evening. If you are seated in the public dining area, guessing it out loud will spoil the fun for other diners. But... no one can see us and naughtiness is allowed. Muahahaha! Conversations in the dark starting to get a little too naughty and sensual towards our last course, 4 dishes of desserts! Ladies and their sweets. Ahem!
Dinner was completed in an hour! Everyone looks like they've just woken from a nap. Hahaha! Lipsticks gone and eyeliner smudges from laughing out loud! Have you ever tried closing your eyes WHILE you eat? Try it and when done, look at the mirror and you will know what I'm talking about. Wink!
Admittedly, I was feeling queasy shortly after the first course was served. After lacking sleeps in nights with no chance to fully nurse my flu bug, I was in the worse state of physical state this evening for this CHALLENGING dining experience.
It is best you close your eyes throughout the session. It is pitch dark! Opening your eyes will intensify disorientation as your brain will set you to actively searches for images to translate.
Post Dinner Drinks
We hung around the bar for a while. Filling up the questionnaire before we are allowed to see our menu list AND food photos. More cocktails for some. Chatted a little and rested a little before we left.
Pssst... I am not going to publicly post the menu here! Also, the menu changes once a month(?).
