Post-Op Cat Nini (Spayed)

Cat Nini came to me slightly passed 2200hrs the night before. She did not eat but drank throughout the night and morning. By 0300hrs, I've stopped all her intakes and fasting begun.

I started calling the clinic at 0800hrs. No one answered till slightly passed 0900hrs. By then, Nini is yowling and restless. Her heat is back!

After making sure there will be a vet available to performs the surgery today, we prepped and drove to town.

The wait at the clinic was slow and hectic. This is a very popular clinic in the whole of Johor Bahru and Dr. Koh has decades of credentials at handling animals. He is the most capable and reliable animal surgeon I've known. He saved many of my pets who was nearly left to die from mishandling by other vets!

Closed on Sunday, Monday is filled with emergency walk-ins. It doesn't helps matter when the previous capable admins have left. The replacements are two very dull and inefficient aunties. Both are equally a drag to get things done there. Worse still was two other vets have recently left. One married off elsewhere and the other, I don't recalled why. Only one vet left to run the morning furry patients while Dr. Koh is out for emergency calls.

We waited almost an hour before the lady vet is readied to inspects Nini before surgery. Mama D is super hungry and grumpy by then. She insisted to come along with me so...

After inspection, we left Nini there to prep for her spaying. Mama D and I ate nearby. After meal, I went back to the clinic to wait for Nini while Mama D does her errands nearby.

It was not long before I was told Nini is done with the surgery.

Checking on Nini straight after her surgery!

My heart broke into million pieces seeing her in this stage. She is still under G.A, of course. Waiting patiently for her to awoken, lightly, from anaesthesia. She still has the breathing tube in her. Urghh!

When she regains slightly from the G.A, I immediately prep her for home. I don't want her to struggle too much during the drive. In fear of injuring herself further.

Waking up from her sedation. Slowly now, gal!

She is super strong-willed! She can regained from G.A very fast and calm compared to my other cats!

After fumbling a little, she managed to get to her favourite mat

I did make a silly mistake by trying to assist her to her favourite mat. She retaliate in fear when she is super confused by sedation!

Left palm is more severe because scratches were rather deep!

I left her be while keeping a close eyes on her; in case she endangered herself through tumbling around the room. She was cool, though. She did not reacts too much as she tries to orientate herself. That's why I said I made a SILLY mistake. Unlike my other cats' reaction to waking up from sedation, this Nini is pretty calm and safe by her own.

Fell asleep on her favourite mat. Shortly after she's done struggling to orientate from her sedation.

She has a super kissable face now! Usually, she has but she's too fierce to approach at normal state. I did take this opportunity to gave her loads of sayang and kisses!

After a good, long rest, in the early evening...

She's surprisingly easy at letting me use the e.collar on her!

Without struggling or much complains, she has allowed me to used the e.collar on her. In under 2 minutes of wearing it, and me stopping her from attempting to pull it off, she gave up and let it be the whole time! This part of her is just like my sweet Kohi. Teehee.

Having the e.collar on made her so sweet and docile!

She asked and allowed me to gives her loads of sayang!
Nini even purrs and rolling around me!

She was acting all cute, sweet and adorable like ... CATS! I did take out her e.collar rather often. Keeping a close eyes at her when she's free from it. Stopping her from licking the surgical wound but allowing her to groom herself. To de-stress her- a stressed cat is an unhealthy one. I don't want to have unnecessary health complications already!

She was famished. Food was given in small portions several times. About 4 times, every 2 hours. Tested giving her the antibiotic mixed into her wet food. No complains. She ate it even when all her wet food is gone from the bowl. She couldn't lick it off the bowl. After several attempts on her own, I pilled her using my hand instead. Easier than all my cats on her! Phew!

I hope she will continues to recovers well and steadily like this!
