Oh Land: Nordic Fantasia
pop-electro songstress Nanna Øland Fabricius, aka Oh Land, takes a dramatic turn as she cycles aimlessly about Copenhagen’s animated streets in director Matthew Donaldson’s short. Though Oh Land has called Brooklyn, New York, home since early 2010, the Copenhagen native still pines for the Nordic mini-metropolis. “I miss being able to go everywhere on my bike. It’s so freeing and such a nice way to explore your city,” she says. “In New York it’s so dangerous, it’s not the same experience.” This fall, the knockout chanteuse—known for her whimsical vocals, fantastical lyrics and idiosyncratic dance moves—has been touring the United Kingdom, opening for Katy Perry and performing hits like “Wolf & I” and “White Nights” from her eponymous second album. Later this month, Oh Land embarks on her U.S. tour with a new skill set in tow: “I can’t actually whistle, but throughout the shoot for this film, after pretending to whistle for so long, I think I got a bit better!” Here the Scandinavian songbird, one of Louis Vuitton’s latest Amble Ambassadors, reveals her preferences when it comes to fine dining, high fashion and boy bands.

Lovely, lovely, lovely! Have a beautiful cycling weekend in Nordic Land ♥

I took this video the day after we adopted him. Since he is completely blind (born without formed eyeballs) we gave him some balls with bells inside. As you can tell, he can "see" them by using his ears! He is such a happy and inspiring cat -- we are blessed to have him with us.

Am I the only one who thinks the little cute owlet reminds one too much of a sweet little kitten?
I've been wanting to keep an owl as pet but I do notice the lack of skilled avian vets accessible to civilian in Malaysia/Singapore from my passed personal experiences. Also, I have yet gone into much reading or learning about owl to decide if it is a humanely good idea to do so and if I am capable to provide it well. For now, I will just have to be very contented to view videos and photos of them.

Man Grows New Fingertip On His Stomach (Warning: Gross)

What would you do if you were a shell? Would you hang-glide on a Dorito? Would you lounge on a raisin? Would you “drive” a bug (not of the Volkswagen variety)? Would you sleep on a piece of bread? Would you be scared of a dog? One sassy shell — the famous Marcel — does all of these things, and he’s back in Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, Two, the sequel to the eponymous, stop-motion story of his life. But, please, call him Ace.

Catvertising

What can cat videos do for your business? If you ask Toronto agency John St. they’ll tell you that cat videos can do everything for your business. That’s why they’re shifting their focus, opening up a new video division in 2012 and focusing entirely on cat vids.

Of course, the ‘Catvertising’ video is tongue-in-cheek, but they do make some good points. Cats are pretty cheap talent so they provide excellent ROI—all you need to give them is a little food and water. And honestly, who doesn’t love an adorable cat video?

I’ve been writing a lot about Oink, the new mobile app from Milk, Kevin Rose’s current startup. Oink launched about ten days ago (you still need an invite to unlock all of its features), and Kevin Rose gave me a demo the day it launched. In this episode of Fly or Die, we give Oink a try.
Oink is a way to rate things in the physical world on an extremely granular layer. You can rate a #burger or a #steak in a restaurant, a #rollercoaster in an amusement park, or a #shirt in a clothing store. You identify things with hashtags and get cred topic-by-topic based on the how other people vote for the things that you’ve said are good. The hashtags are also useful for a specific hashatag that’s been rated in your vicinity.
The app could end up collecting a wealth of data about what people like in the real world. There is something very satisfying about seeing the best 25 #burgers in rank order within a 5-mile vicinity drop down on a map. And the ability to level up for any particular tag is going to be a big motivator for some users. But like any app, there will be the power taggers and everyone else (who simply consume), and the trick for Oink to be successful when it launches more broadly will be to make it appealing and easy to use for anyone straight out of the gate. It might need more structure and suggestions than the current open-ended tag the world approach.

Like mother like daughter! Mini Thais got the look from her mother, Thais. The cat mama cradles her baby calico like a gem. There is nothing more beautiful than the love between a cat mother and her babies.
