We nearly missed this flight when the airport bus was having technical issue, made a detour, hopped onto another bus before we were safely rushed to the airport. I MUST say, Norway's public transportation is very particular about being on schedule and their passengers' safety!

We we detoured, safely, to a waiting spot and within a couple of minutes, our safe bus arrived. The faulty bus, with all our luggage, were driven by and carrying 3 other technicians to followed our safe bus to the airport. This, perhaps, was an arrangement to reduced the time wasting on transferring a full passenger load's luggage from one bus to another, while keeping the passengers' safety as a priority and getting us on time to the airport for the flight! Marvelous!

Everyone of us got there in time; albeit a little later than expected. We did a swift automated (self)check-in at the kiosk, check-in our cargo luggage without a fuss and went through the custom checkpoint. We got to our designated gate 5 minutes before it was opened for boarding! Stockholm, here we come!

Once our flight touched down in Stockholm, we headed for the kiosk near the elevator to purchase our tickets with Arlanda Express (a direct train from airport to Stockholm S). Do note that we did not see any manned counter here for ticket purchase. You need to purchase the ticket from the automated kiosk using credit cards. Also note that your credit card MUST have its PIN CODE activated in order to use this machine for purchase. If not, like us and a few other passengers there, asked other kind locals there to help with the purchase using their cash/credit card. You can purchase the ticket from a manned counter using cash at Stockholm S during return.

We managed to get the tickets on a promotional package - one way ticket for 2 pax at SEK 280! Trust me, this is dirt cheap, and the fastest, for two passengers ride to town compared to other ways available.

Markus brought us to Bølgen & Moi in Tjuvholmen, only to find the staves from the restaurant we initially set to had lunch at were all there! How small is Oslo?!

Markus told us that Bølgen & Moi has chain of outlets throughout Norway. After checking their website, I realised they have one in Stavanger, too! I like this outlet's set-up, lay-out and location. But I haven't much to talked about their food; I had shrimp salad pasta while Kenneth had the burger. Food wasn't horrible but definitely not wow. Portions were (too) generous! Even though I was pretty hungry, I couldn't finish much of what was given. I realised I wasn't alone in this. Hee.

Sunday Lunch at BØLGEN & MOI, Tjuvholmen

Sunday, July 03, 2011

We had our lunch really late. Like close to 5-ish evening sorta late. And I don't remember if I had any proper breakfast prior to that *scratch head*

Markus brought us to the old but newly renovated Lompa. We will be having our food on the rooftop, Lompa Friluft. Admittedly, I am utterly confused by the names in this restaurant; or restaurants and club. But many locals here called it Lompa. Check out its website for all the different sections it housed. I know the main hall (downstair) has a huge, classic bar and served set menu. Rooftop has an open section serving grilled food while an enclosed (rooms) area is some sort of night club?

I had one of the nicest Skagen Toast here - Lompa Toast Skagen - but had totally forgotten to take a pic or video of it! One of the dish I'll miss badly when I'm back home is Skagen Toast. I had it at a few places in Stavanger as well! Ironically, I didn't have any in Stockholm when I was out searching for one!

FOOD:

  1. Lompa TOAST Skagen
  2. Grilled Mackerel for Markus
  3. Norwegian Ox for Kenneth
  4. Swine Ribs for me
