Date night with hubby - dinner and music gig. To think we flew all the way back to Malaysia to attend their gig, while all the time we were up North, no chance! Teehee.

The dinner is pretty good, actually. Am pleasantly surprised since there is less than a handful of well-made and well-served restaurants in KL.

ANTE

Gnocchi wasn't well-made but the pasto is decent

The salad has various textures, refreshing, sweet & fragrant dressing.
The meat is good size

And properly handled/cooked
The meat used was decent and properly handled. But the sauce was a little amateur for our taste. Then again, for the price we're paying, you won't be expecting to have the sauce made by hours of technique using exotic or complex produces.

Time for the music gig! Damn the wait. I'm pretty sure we've waited more than 2 hours before the main event starts.

I am in the mood for some live orchestra concerts today. Since MPO is one on my list to check out for quite some time now, I went to its website to see the upcoming line-up. Despite being a Malaysian, I've never been to any of MPO's performances! Hur, hur, hur.

On this rare occasion of actually prepared to go, I found this event. Sold out! Gutted. Back to checking out other line-ups in locations I'll be visiting then, elsewhere. Sigh.

Oh Land: Nordic Fantasia
pop-electro songstress Nanna Øland Fabricius, aka Oh Land, takes a dramatic turn as she cycles aimlessly about Copenhagen’s animated streets in director Matthew Donaldson’s short. Though Oh Land has called Brooklyn, New York, home since early 2010, the Copenhagen native still pines for the Nordic mini-metropolis. “I miss being able to go everywhere on my bike. It’s so freeing and such a nice way to explore your city,” she says. “In New York it’s so dangerous, it’s not the same experience.” This fall, the knockout chanteuse—known for her whimsical vocals, fantastical lyrics and idiosyncratic dance moves—has been touring the United Kingdom, opening for Katy Perry and performing hits like “Wolf & I” and “White Nights” from her eponymous second album. Later this month, Oh Land embarks on her U.S. tour with a new skill set in tow: “I can’t actually whistle, but throughout the shoot for this film, after pretending to whistle for so long, I think I got a bit better!” Here the Scandinavian songbird, one of Louis Vuitton’s latest Amble Ambassadors, reveals her preferences when it comes to fine dining, high fashion and boy bands.

John Lennon was killed thirty years ago today, and the New York Times had some pieces on the Op-Ed page remembering him – including one from Yoko Ono where she talks about John’s love for cats:

JOHN and I are in our Dakota kitchen in the middle of the night. Three cats — Sasha, Micha and Charo — are looking up at John, who is making tea for us two.

Sasha is all white, Micha is all black. They are both gorgeous, classy Persian cats. Charo, on the other hand, is a mutt. John used to have a special love for Charo. “You’ve got a funny face, Charo!” he would say, and pat her.

Of course, Menandcats.com is not at all surprised that a talented, artistic, and inspiring man such as John Lennon was a tremendous cat lover.

The Singapore F1 season is an awesome time to be in the island republic cos even if you don't really give a toss about fast cars, the events happening in conjunction with the race is always bloody amazing. One such event is Avalon at Large presents GO!.

GO! is the first in a series of music events presented by Avalon at Large. The company has its roots in Hollywood, where they played a part in major events like the MTV Movie Awards, the Emmy Awards and the Oscars (according to their Facebook). Avalon Singapore will soon open their nightlife venue at Marina Bay Sands, and GO! marks their first big event that will introduce them to Southeast Asian audiences.

Avalon at Large presents GO! certainly looks amazing. Check out the line-up. If the official Singapore F1 GP concert doesn't turn you on, maybe this might:

DETAILS

When: 23 & 24 September. 7pm

Where: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Tickets: Limited advanced early bird tickets are available now for $70 for EACH day. You can purchase Day 1 tickets here and Day 2 tickets here. For group bookings, corporate sales or other questions, you may call them at +65 6225 6005 or email info@avalonatlarge.com

Please do check out their website for latest updates on ticket sales.

It's too sinful to miss this. Dreaded only because it is associated with F1. Singapore will be, once again, filled to the brim with cars and tourists. I guess I'll have to do (at least) a 2 nights layover for this.

Also, I've noticed it stated DJ set for Chemical Brothers. Does that means, it is not going to be an all-sensory experience the like of Fuji Fest? I am going ONLY because Chemical Brothers is there, y'know? Now, back to marking and planning my calendar/agenda.
