Mama D is finally here!

Another year being able to celebrate this festive time with my growing family in Malaysia ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶ We are at our FOURTH generations already! Woot ヽ(♡‿♡)ノ

Not very pleased with Google Photos/Plus taking out the ability to embed the whole album here. Anyhoo, as a tradition, we have relatives and family friends come visiting with all the specially ordered vegan meals from Singapore.

85% of the vegan dishes served today are from this specific temple in Singapore. We have it since I was a child! That's a few good decades, I tell ya ┐(︶▽︶)┌

After EVERYONE has taken their vegan lunch, the next MUST is the photo session!

Below are some sub-par 360-degree photos taken on my new camera. Still trying to get the hang of it.

Making yusheng from scratch

Aunt Shirley has been making our yusheng from scratch these passed years. Dehydrating the vegetables, candied some and the whole nine yard.

Aunt Cangy will makes rolls of loh bak prior to tonight. Steamed it before freezing it. When it is time to serve, you just need to lightly deep fried the tofu skin.

Busy kitchen

Everyone chips in for tonight's feast. From purchasing the produces to making it, from setting up to washing down.

Mama D is finally here! She brought her homemade Hakka Abacus Seeds for tonight. She has also packed a separate portion for my hubby. I'll be having another round of Reunion dinner/supper with him when he's back from work later tonight.

A poppy aftermath

It has been many years since I celebrated the countdown with family. In fact, I don't celebrate this event much. It's the most congested time of the year. EVERYONE celebrates it. Go figure (overpopulation)!

Happy New Year 2017!

Braised Pork Knuckles with Yam Rice Set
Lunch in the 'hood with my sweetheart - Taste Enclave, Avenue K. I like it here quite. It is the closest to food court in Singapore's standard.

After our late lunch, time to short a little and grab the things I need from Daiso there.

Got my hands at more of those cute festive gift envelopes. Cannot resist!
The 2 mini envelopes are for "beans"

I wonder who is taking a pic of reindeer's
bum in this pic. Too blur. Teehee.

Photos shared to me via Google Hangouts with Mama D.

Mama D: The deers are so greedy! Stopped then eat and poop when riding.
Me: D'oh! Duuuuuuuh...

Google+ Auto-Backup Auto Awesome these photos for me. As usual, a pleasant surprise.

Aunt Shirley has been making breads a lot! The whole family members love it! She always make at least 2 loaves per session/day. Serving whoever is there (weekends at gramps' or weekdays at her abode) and whatever little is left, will be packed off by one of the family member.

I had the honour of taking half a loaf of ciabatta this Tuesday evening when I was at her abode.

To sum up my Chinese New Year this year, here are the photos and videos!
My first attempt of gradient glitter nails using sponging technique
Our reunion dinner at gramps' and this year, less people. Sob-sob.
After dinner at gramps', it is time for our birthday boys to cut the cake!
After all the food and merry-making, it is time to head home and prepare to receive the brand new (Chinese) year. .. and God of Wealth, of course!
With the help of our neighbour, we got our set of firecracker lighted up too! Check out the amount of firecrackers he lighted that night. I lost count. They started way before us in the video, too!

First Day of Chinese New Year

Here is the first part of the day's event...
Don't forget our super annual family photo session! Here is the short videoclip of that event:-
Shortly after the photo session, I need to rushed for my other appointments in town. By then, the heavy rain has ceased a tad. I've stopped filming, too. Didn't take any photo because my decent camera phone is in KL for servicing. Will have to wait for Jamie and Helen to send me photos before sharing those here.

Updates: Pics from Jamie & Helen

Second Day of Chinese New Year

Family lunch at gramps'. This time, Alison is here! She's such a cool and pretty baby. This is my first year attending a POST-CNY family lunch. I didn't know it was a rather official event. Didn't bring my camcorder out. Sigh. Have to shot a few photos on my lesser grade camera phone...

First visit to meet young Ginger, recently adopted by Aunt Shirley & Uncle Teng in Johor.

Unfortunately, Ginger spends his weekdays with my grumpy grandma in the house. No harm done. Just that it is pretty bored for a cheeky kitty, I guess.

Will speak to Uncle Teng regarding Ginger's mom. He has the heart but not too familiar about how he can help more/better.

「Vid」 Everyone, meet Ginger! The new kitty boy!

Grandma's Children

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Shortly after LNY Reunion Dinner, the game is on! It was fun for the kids, young and old. Uncle Sonny is the only one brave enough to play with firecrackers.
