When someone invites you for a BBQ session in Malaysia, it really means a Home Party with a BBQ pit in session.
Besides from food churning out from the pit, other top-ups can be bought nearby or friends coming with packed food to add-on, and sometimes, any food we can find in the host's home, someone will grab it out from the cabinet to cook. E.g., instant noodles, eggs, etc.
The main objective of this session is gathering friends in one venue, for a free'n'easy session, food and drinks supplied, and having catch-up or games throughout the night!
This explained the karaoke system, garden tent, poker chips, mahjong table, et. al we have been setting up in that venue. Since I don't gamble, I enjoyed the gathering at the garden tent most. We sat on the grass and just chat, drink and munch on any edible we have then. Only two things missing, I jokingly said to the group, "We are just short of a guitar and bonfire now".
