Viddy on Android Test

Tested this app on my HTC One X, Android 4.1.1 phone today. Set the resolution to Medium Quality. A little buggy on app - no preview of music selection.

Uploading was fast. It is just a few seconds of Medium Quality video after all. I'm fine with it because that is the whole point of using this app in the beginning! Short, filtered video clips for easy sharing to send a Twitter-like message on SNS. Something that's more ON-THE-GO with added bonus of filters + music (optional) than a boring, only slightly trimmed/joined clip I usually shared from my phone.

This is also my preferred medium over Instagram's still shots community. It just doesn't catch my fancy as I've already set my still shots sharing via better platforms; after much consolidation, workflow and integration consideration based on my OCD's needs.

For other video-sharing method, I used a dedicated pocket camcorder to captures multiple shots and B-rolls before editing on a proper platform with a tad more polished works involved. Those are usually shared via YouTube/Dailymotion. Original clips and full resolution edited videos will be transferred to my external hard drive.

The downsides of this app for Android are:
  1. NO editing function other than adding filters.
  2. NO embed code to grabs.
  3. NO option to download a copy of the video to phone.
  4. Built-in share to Twitter function is broken.
I'm not expecting a robust editing function but hope to see some action effects included in the future. Or at least, a cut/join edit function within the app, instead of having to use another app for this before importing to Viddy on phone.

I would also love to see the ability to grab embed codes within the app as I do blog here using my Android phone/tablet (use Chrome on phone/tablet to access full web usage of Blogger). Guess, for now, I will need to access the Desktop version of www.viddy.com on my phone/tablet to use the Embed Code grabs. Kinda buggy but do-able for now.

Update

Wrote in to Viddy regarding my Twitter linking issue. It was answered. Not my phone. Twitter API issue which the dev will be working on for now.
